Authorisations and referrals are ways of checking that the card has not been reported lost or stolen, and that there are sufficient funds in the cardholders account at the time of the request to cover the purchase. It is important to understand that authorisations and referrals do not guarantee payment. If you would like to discuss this further please contact us on 01422 323785, Option 2.
Alert, well-trained staff members are your frontline defence against card fraud and can significantly reduce the risk of financial loss to your business. If you or your staff allow fraud to take place through carelessness, you could lose money and we may even stop processing card payments for you. If you would like to discuss this further please contact us on 01422 323785, Option 2.
Non-compliance could lead to financial loss and fines.
The risks to your business can be serious if you do not comply. Your card acquirer can be fined by the card schemes if its customers are non-compliant. In most cases, this fine will be passed on to you if you are not certified as PCI DSS compliant.
Failure to comply may also leave your business vulnerable to the possibility of a data compromise. This can result in your customers losing confidence in you and lead to a loss of revenue. You could also be fined in the case of a data breach, and these fines can often be very large.
There are six compliance categories. If your business stores, processes or transmits card data, you need to meet the requirements of the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS). The standard comprises six compliance categories that include 12 common sense steps to help businesses enhance data security, as follows:
Install and maintain a firewall configuration to protect cardholder data.
Do not use vendor-supplied defaults for system passwords and other security parameters.
Protect stored cardholder data.
Encrypt transmission of cardholder data across open, public networks.
Restrict access to cardholder data by business need-to-know.
Assign a unique ID to each person with computer access.
Restrict physical access to cardholder data.
Use and regularly update anti-virus software or programs
Develop and maintain secure systems applications.
Track and monitor all access to network resources and cardholder data.
Regularly test security systems and processes.
Maintain a policy that addresses information security for employees and contractors.

We can offer the ability to accept gratuity payments though a chip and pin terminal, useful in the hospitality industry, pubs, restaurants etc.
When you make a refund on a card transaction, the amount of the refund is returned to the customer’s card account and a corresponding debit will be made to your nominated bank account. You must always make a refund back to the card used for the original purchase.
Purchase with cashback (PWCB) may be good for your business and the people who shop with you. For your customers, being able to get cash when they spend at a local outlet is a convenient way to save time. This could encourage them to visit more regularly – potentially boosting your takings. From a security perspective, PWCB also reduces the amount of cash held on the premises, making your business less vulnerable to crime.
A convenient way for you to collect regular payments, such as subscriptions or instalments, from your customer’s cards.
Pre-authorisation (pre-auth) is a term used to describe a service whereby money is not taken from the cardholders account at the moment the transaction is made. Particularly useful in the hotel and van/car hire sectors where the final expense is not possible to calculate.
