We’re a friendly bunch here at Yorkshire Payments, so we thought we’d let you get to know the team that keeps everything ticking over at our HQ in Brighouse.

Today, it’s the turn of Non-Executive Director of Strategy, Ian Marwood.

Hi Ian! Summarise your role in a couple of sentences.

I work with the Directors and senior management team to define the strategy for the company and ensure that we build on our success and continue to grow. I also act as a sounding board for all members of the senior management team to provide an independent and objective view on ideas and issues as they arise

Sounds good. What’s your favourite part of the job?

 

Interacting with all the team members and being part of the business.

What do you think makes Yorkshire Payments stand out from its competitors?

We care about our customers and are local enough to be there for them when needed. We give them a top quality service at an affordable cost, helping them to be successful and grow their own businesses.

Time to blow your own trumpet! What’s the nicest bit of feedback you’ve received from a customer or colleague?

That I always give my time when they need my help, no matter how busy I am.

What three words do you think describe the Yorkshire Payments way of doing things?

Responsive, friendly, hard-working (basically exactly what Yorkshire people are)

What are we most likely to find you doing when you’re not at work?

Watching football, I have season tickets at both Huddersfield Town and Goole AFC and I also support a Premier League glory team who aren’t from Yorkshire!

What’s your favourite spot in Yorkshire?

 

Top of the hill outside my village (Woolley). Looking west you have the Pennine hills and looking east you can see all the way to the Yorkshire Wolds. A great spot for unwinding.

Your Favourite Yorkshire Saying?

Fancy a brew? I always like hearing that…

Last time you paid in cash?

 

Five days ago, buying from a street food van. But then I’m from Yorkshire so I pay as infrequently as possible…

Last thing you bought on your card?

My sandwich this lunchtime.

Charity Competition Terms and Conditions

The competition is open to charities based within the region of Yorkshire, UK only. 

There are two charity donation boxes available to win. Two individual charities will be selected as winners and each will receive one of the two charity boxes as a prize.

The prize does not include transaction fees associated with the use of the charity box. Each winning charity will be expected to pay the transaction fees. These amount to 1.5% of the total of any amount processed, plus 3 pence, per donation.

Only one entry per charity will be counted, and Yorkshire Payments reserves the right to ask competition winners to provide for proof of Charitable status. If a competition winner is unable to prove charitable status, Yorkshire Payments reserves the right to select an alternative winner.

The winning charities will be subject to a successful merchant application with AIBMS. The charity donation box will only be supplied if this application is accepted.

By entering this competition entrants accept these terms and conditions together with any specific instructions and terms for such competition which may be mentioned in any electronic messages, or on the website, or communicated to entrants in any other way (“competition information”). Such competition information shall prevail in the event of there being any inconsistency between these competition terms and conditions and any competition information.

Yorkshire Payments may cancel or amend any competition, competition information, or these terms and conditions without prior notice. Any changes will be posted either within the competition information or these terms and conditions.

The opening and closing dates and times for entries are as indicated in the competition information. Any entries received before the opening and after the closing of the competition will be invalid and will not be entered into the competition.
